The nuclear option remains firmly on the table for Russia throughout its greatly condemned invasion of Ukraine, a accurate spokesperson for Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed CNN's Christiane Amanpour on Tuesday.
Amanpour audibly sighed as Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov parroted Kremlin speaking points and refused to rule out nuking the neighboring country.
"I should ask you this, because the world is afraid, and that i need to be aware of whether Putin intends the area to be frightened of the nuclear option. Would he use it?" the CNN anchor asked Peskov.
Putin "intends to make the area take heed to and consider our issues" about the perceived "anti-Russia" risk from the West, referred to Peskov.
Amanpour pressed additional:
"I wish to ask you once again. Is President Putin, as a result of, once again, the Finnish president stated to me that after he requested Putin directly about this, as a result of President Puti n has laid that (nuclear) card on the label, President Putin noted that, if anyone tries to stop him, very unhealthy issues will turn up. and i want to understand even if you're satisfied or assured that your boss will no longer use that alternative."
"smartly, we have an idea of home protection, and, well, it's public. you can examine all the factors for nuclear hands to be used," Peskov answered. "So, if it is an existential probability for our country, then it can be used, according to our thought."
"I anticipate Putin desires to scare the realm," Amanpour commented later.
