© Submitted through Leanna MacLeod Mi'kmaw artist Leanna MacLeod created this beaded pin in support of Ukrainian humanitarian reduction. as the heart-wrenching photos and horrifying reviews emerge of Russia's invasion in Ukraine, Vida Woodworth wanted to change the overwhelming feelings of hopelessness and despair with support and caring.
It is work she helps every day at After Trauma Empowerment network (ATEN) in Shubenacadie, N.S.
She volunteers and is chair of the board of administrators for the no longer-for-profit resource centre that "helps to empower people, families and communities littered with trauma."
"There were many tears shed due to the fact that the violence and bombing has begun within the Ukraine," talked about Woodworth.
She turned to a fellow ATEN volunteer, Leanna MacLeod, a Mi'Kmaw artist, to create whatever thing to promote in assist of victims of the invasion.
"After hearing in regards to the disaster in Ukraine, my coronary heart cried for them all," MacLeod observed. "i wished to reach out in cohesion and assist of the americans in Ukraine.
They decided on a beaded tear-formed pin and thoughtful details that symbolize Ukraine.
The tear is made of blue leather-based and has a backing of birch bark. Blue is one of the two stripes in the Ukrainian flag and represents the deep blue of the sky over the country. It also symbolizes freedom, have confidence, loyalty, knowledge, confidence and religion.
while the yellow stripe represents the golden wheat fields of Ukraine, the vivid colour is an indication of hope, positivity, pleasure, honour and loyalty.
every teardrop has a yellow sunflower, the flower of Ukraine, beaded within the centre.
every flower has a beaded green stem it is completed with a gold bead.
eco-friendly turned into used to depict the comforting and calming color found in nature while the gold bead represents the many useful materials present in Ukraine together with its courageous, powerful and resilient individuals.
every teardrop takes about two hours to make from start to finish.
MacLeod will create a restrained run of a hundred pins to be bought for a minimal donation of $50 for each pin. every pin is numbered and signed by using the artist.
All money may be donated to humanitarian relief efforts for these fleeing the invasion and to help Ukrainians in search of refuge in Nova Scotia.
